Greetings everyone! ♥
I wrote this poem in about twenty minutes one day while I was working on my Rhymetyme Blog and it's on a page there, Have a Blessed Day, instead of as a post here on Heartbeats.
This poem creates an example of someone wishing another or others a blessed day, with an expression of understanding they know it's not always as easy to do as it may sound, but also suggests how another or others might accomplish actually turning a downer day into one better and feeling blessed. Oftentimes the best way we can help another is to help and encourage them to find and utilize what they already have within themselves because this helps them to find their own courage and strength, while building their confidence, self esteem, and so, their self worth. When we help others, if we simply do 'for them' what they need, they don't learn then how to do for themselves. When people don't do for themselves, they can't gain confidence, self worth, and so forth that are the most basic traits needed for a well balanced, emotionally and mentally stable individual.
I've been at some very low times in my life. Likely, most folks have been at one time or another. The one common denominator I've come to learn that is what saved me and pulled me out of the quagmire of feeling hopeless is finding and grasping onto the lifeline of being grateful for something, which may be some 'thing' or some 'one'. Usually, if you can find one thing to be grateful for, you'll find there is much more as well to be grateful for.
We can't be dependent upon others for our emotional state of being nor should we be. Cultivating an "attitude of gratitude" is not only an asset for our character, but it may also serve as our emotional and mental lifeline as well. ♥

I wish for you a blessed day right from the start,
With joy and Love abundantly felt within your heart.
But if you are feeling somewhat sad and blue,
Then may these words bring some hope just for you.
It's difficult to dismiss the troubles on our mind,
Such can steal our joy, be to our heart unkind.
Yesterdays can spill over into the new of today,
Especially fears and worries that can get in our way.
Life can surely beat us down into a deep ravine,
With walls so steep our blessings can't then be seen
And when we're separated from reasons to be grateful,
This can lead a heart to bitterness, even turn to hateful.
If we practice every day, our blessings, we rehearse,
Life's tribulations can't, our state of mind, reverse.
When we feel ourselves struggling with holding onto hope,
Our blessings we are grateful for, supplies our life rope.
All those deep ravines with quicksand at their base,
Waiting to suck us in, into a dark, hopeless place,
Where our hope and happiness can then be devoured,
Unless with gratitude for blessings we remain empowered.
I wish for you a day full of blessings to be grateful for,
And if trouble comes a knocking, to pound down your door,
You'll have the power within you, in your hands and in your heart,
If with gratitude you are, allowing it to play its key role and part.
Have a Blessed Day; count your blessings, every one,
As your day begins, throughout, and when your day is done.
You'll always be well armed then against every darker force
Attempting to steal your hope away and your peaceful course.
