We set aside 'one' day for thanks to give,
But shouldn't we every day, this way choose to live?
Is this the only day we can be thankful for
All the ways we're blessed, too many to keep score?

We have warm get togethers with our friends and family.
We have good times, feast on good food, substantially.
We express our Love, our caring, and compassion,
But is this the only day for niceness to be in fashion?

We have so much to be thankful for every day we live;
So many ways we're blessed to share and from them, give.
Not just on this day set aside for Thanks Giving,
But throughout the year in our every day of living.

Yet, at the stroke of midnight, as this day ends,
We resort to our old familiar patterns and trends.
Christmas is the same, like sentiments we deploy.
So, why can't we see how giving brings us so much joy?

When we give to others, "truly from our heart",
We make others' lives better and warm our inner part,
Making giving an investment that cannot be surpassed.
Hence, feast on giving, but with taking tend to fast.

Thankfulness and giving fit together like a glove,
Since gratefulness reveals blessings, an abundance of,
Breeding in us generosity, to then with others share,
Since, we've learned, we have plenty we can spare.

Perhaps, with this Thanksgiving, when we give thanks,
We'll also choose to lift ourselves into better ranks
And be among those who, like with their daily bread,
Count their blessings daily and the abundance of, spread.

"If we ALL gave a little, it would add up to a lot
And not a single soul then would ever be forgot."
We would multiply our blessings in ways so profound,
Thanks Giving we'd have to celebrate then year around!

I am always so amazed when I look around and see all the wonderful, Masterly Created creations by God. To me, nowhere is this realization more profound than when I am surrounded by nature. Springtime is the grandest show of life, both with the new birth of and the renewal of life. But autumn just dazzles the eyes with such a splendid array of colour that just can't be unseen. When I think of all the damage and destruction humans have done to our earth and continue to do, I am sickened beyond description. ♥

It's all Hallow's Eve, with tricks up their sleeve,
Trick or treaters have begun their descending
Upon this spooky night, packed with fright,
Along with spirits of all sorts attending.

As Casper says, "Boo" and the owl says, "Who-o"
And Jack's face is lit up and bright;
The raven's arrived and is still unwived,
No change in his loveless plight.

The moon has risen, free of daylight's prison,
And now sheds light on an earth below,
That's ready and waiting and anticipating
Another grand and spooktacular show.

Over tall, naked trees, wherever they please,
Witches, on their brooms fly high,
Not wishing to spar, avoid bats' radar,
Searching for food in the sky.

With moans and groans and rattling of bones,
Skeletons start their waking and stir,
To rise from their bed, the unresting dead,
As the wind gossips among the fir.

Goblins and ghosts and all such ghoulish hosts,
Are out and about for their party time.
Unmasked, naturally scary, all living be wary
And even before the midnight chime.

Now on the prowl, the werewolves howl,
Each one a starving, treacherous beast.
The thirsting vampires with bloody desires,
Are seeking necks to gorge on and feast.

Fast asleep is the sun. Hallow's Eve's begun.
As screams echo the sound of fright and fear;
The creepy are walking; prey, they're stalking,
Reaping souls before the dawn gets here.

To be up for the task, do wear your mask,
For you must blend in with the scene,
To keep safe through the night, hidden from sight,
And to survive the night of Halloween!

I'm late with posting this but I have other, more pressing priorities. While creating this piece, I began believing I wouldn't ever get it finished because I kept thinking of more elements to add. The title I decided to go with does give new meaning to the term, 'skeleton crew', though. ♥

At last the night is here,
The night of fright and fear;
The night of Halloween,
A ghastly, ghostly scene.

As witches make their brew,
Calling on the Skeleton Crew
To, from their slumber, rise
And meet without disguise.

The moon is full and bright
To make luminous the night,
As amber flames flicker in each lit Jack
And lick the brewing pot, burning it black.

With winter's breath coming, near,
On October's night, the last this year,
The chill to the bones, not in the least,
Matters to those who have deceased.

As spirits awaken, rattling their bones,
With a chorus of their moans and groans,
Rustling Autumn leaves blanketing the ground,
A symphony commences of an eerie sound.

Distant werewolves with blood curdling howling,
Are now on the hunt, have begun their prowling.
The owls are hooting, "Who-who-who who-whooooo,
Who dares to venture out this night through?"

As the graveyard comes alive with the walking dead,
Who've been sleeping restlessly in their earthly bed,
Waiting for the celebration, an annual eventful night,
When spirits mingle, old and new, a welcomed sight.

There are stories to be told, legends to be read,
Like Sleepy Hollow, the horseman with no head.
There's news of the living that must be spread,
Like who among the living is about to join the dead?

Ah, it is a Fright Night, one that spooks the mind;
One that's to the living, an event often quite unkind.
But to the spirit world, it's a night looked forward to,
The annual congregation of the Skeleton Crew.

I used to belong to and moderate a children's website, which was a Heddate site, but is now defunct and is currently a Japanese website. I like to work with and create for children and this crossword puzzle is just one of the many fun things I did for the children on the former children's site. I originally created it in 2006 and just a couple days ago I gave it a makeover. I'm posting it now so children can enjoy doing it. Dellaroo stands, smiling over her pot,
Stirring up a potion, bubbling hot.
"Come one, come all!
It's time for a spiritual ball!"
